My Vision

I believe in fresh perspectives and new voices. These roles should not be held by the same people indefinitely. It is time for change, transparency, and connection between our national and state parties.  If elected, I will be a bridge between the DNC and the DPO, fostering a true partnership to elect more Democrats. I will keep DPO members informed after each DNC meeting with a full report, and I will make it a priority to meet with all 34 active County Parties, whether in person or virtually. I will also work diligently with the DPO to assist in making sure that County Parties in both Morrow and Sherman Counties become active again. I will also work to help to bridge the urban/rural divide where I will use my experience in both places to make a difference.

I want every DPO member to feel connected to the work of the DNC and to know their voice matters.  I will also actively bring your ideas to the DNC, starting the soul-searching conversations that we need to have.  I also have often said that I realize that I cannot change the world, but I have always pledged to try to change my own “little corner of the world.”  But I do see that “collectively” our efforts can make meaningful changes to our world which will make a positive difference for so many people.

Diane’s Qualifications

I have been involved with the Democratic Party for decades and have volunteered on various local, state and national campaigns.  I have served as a Presidential Election Monitor and as a Legal Observer for the 2016 Presidential Election in Florida.  I have served as a Precinct Committee Person (PCP) and Neighborhood Leader and currently serve as the Chair of the Rules Committee and the SCC Delegation in Clackamas County.  I have also previously served as a CD 5 Delegate, an Oregon State Convention Delegate and was a member of the City of Lake Oswego DEI Task Force.  I am currently a member of the DPO (Democratic Party of Oregon) DEI Special Committee, a member of the DPO Black Caucus and a member of the DPO Executive and Leader Committees. I am also a proud Alumna of the Oregon Emerge Program Class of 2017.

It was an honor to be an elected National Delegate at the Democratic National Conventions in both 2020 and 2024. The 2024 Convention, which I attended in person, was an experience I will carry with me always and I learned so much from that experience.

Diane’s Rural Roots

Born in Ontario in Eastern Oregon, I lived in small towns in Oregon during my childhood where my Dad taught Ag and advised the FFA Chapter.  I also worked on farms from the age of 9 through high school.  I believe these experiences give me an insight on how to bridge the urban/rural divide and I will use my experience in both places to make a difference.

DNC Responsibilities

DNC members have a number of obligations according to the Democratic Party of Oregon :

  •  Participate in Quarterly State Central Committee Weekends
  • Participate in Quarterly Executive Committee Meetings
  • Participate in regular meetings of the DPO Admin Committee
  • Attend 2 DNC Meetings each year, held out of state (travel at your own expense, though a small annual travel stipend is available to offset some travel expenses).
  • Attend the 2028 Democratic National Convention
  • Assist with major DPO Events such as the Wayne Morse Gala and the Oregon Summit
  • Help elect Oregon Democrats

More About Diane

My commitment to advocacy is deeply personal.  At 19, I survived a violent attempted murder attack on my college campus—an experience that forever shaped my life. Rather than letting it define me, I used it as a force for good, committing to help others who had suffered from crime and injustice. I found that when I was helping other people that I no longer had time to feel sorry for myself anymore. This drive led me to law school and into a career as an immigration attorney, where I have proudly represented clients from 80 countries. My own story has helped me connect with clients on a profound level; they know I will always be their fierce advocate. I have had the privilege of representing Oregon in Washington, D.C., for the American Immigration Lawyers Association National Day of Action, advocating for immigrants with our Congressional Delegations. These experiences and the advocacy skills I have developed make me ready to serve you as a DNC Representative.

I live in Lake Oswego with my dog Ruby who is a big Democratic supporter!
